THE EVENING

From the first skirl of the pipes to Auld Lang Syne

The St Andrew’s Ball is the Society’s big night: a formal dinner in honour of Scotland’s patron saint, followed by Scottish country dancing under the chandeliers.

Drinks reception

Arrive to a glass of something and the piper in full flow.

Dinner and toasts

Piped into the ballroom for dinner, with toasts to St Andrew and to Scotland.

The raffle

Prizes to be won, drawn on the dance floor.

Dancing

Reels, jigs and strathspeys until late.

Auld Lang Syne

One last circle, arms crossed, to close the night.

FIRST TIME?

Never danced a reel? You will by midnight.

Scottish country dancing is made for joining in. Each dance is walked through before the music starts, and there is always a seasoned partner happy to steer you round the floor.

Last year at the ball

Chandeliers, kilts and a dance floor that never quite emptied.

PLACES

The last few places

THE SOCIETY

A little bit of Scotland in Brussels

The Caledonian Society of Brussels brings together Scots living in Belgium and everyone who has fallen for Scotland along the way. The ball is our biggest night, but there’s plenty more through the year.

Burns Night

Haggis, poetry and a dram or two in honour of Scotland’s bard.

Ceilidhs

Relaxed nights of Scottish music and dancing. No kilt required.

St Andrew’s Ball

Our black-tie night of the year, with dinner, pipes and reels.
